K1 Visa Process

Comments Off Category: US Visa

The K1 Visa process can best be described as follows. If you already have all the documentation for the fiancee visa and have filed the I129F then this is what usually happens next.

Once you complete all the documentation you need to file the application form with the immigration center under which you fall in the United States. There are only two of them so it is easy to figure which center you fall under depending on where you live.

Once the I129F and all the documentation has been filed the UCSIC will send you a letter to state that they have your application. This is known as a Notice of Action 1 and tells you that the process has started. Once they have looked at it they will forward the application to the National Visa Center. They will notify you of this will another letter and this is called the Notice of Action 2. Once the NVC of National Visa Center has looked at it and approved it then only is the matter sent to the Embassy in the country where your fiancee lives. From there the visa interview will take place.

The process is simply however the amount of paperwork that it takes can be time consuming and errors will cause further delays. On average it takes 6-7 months to get from the initial filling to the Visa interview in your fiancee’s home country. If she does device to leave the US while on the K1 Visa she would have to apply for advance parole first. If she does not apply for advance parole then she will not be allowed in the US again and you would have to start the K1 Visa process from scratch again.
