When you apply for a K1 Visa you need to file a petition to bring your fiancee to the United States. This is done by filling an I129F form with the USCIS and this is where the process starts.

If you have a K1 Visa and would like to leave the US after arriving but before getting married then you first need to apply for advance parole. If you dont have an advance parole in your passport the K1 Visa becomes null and void.
